: RE: Old JP rulesets, I think they should be OK to include. This is a wiki about Japanese mahjong (the front page states "Japanese mahjong, otherwise known as riichi mahjong") so rulesets pre-riichi count as "Japanese mahjogn". In any case, including the old rulesets fits the purpose of the wiki - that "players unfamiliar with [Japanese] do not have easy access to this material" / "to provide English speakers easy access and material pertaining to Japanese mahjong". :: I was going to get the admin involved soon anyway, this is just something that came to mind in the process. I still think clearer policies are needed (eventually at least, if this wiki ever gets bigger), though I guess it's not that big of an issue now. Unclear policies and guidelines

The policies regarding conduct seem too unclear/nonexistent to me. I would assume this wiki would generally subscribe to the same policies as wikipedia, but unless it is made official, I fear the ambiguity can be exploited. This is somewhat related to the debate on Talk:Local yaku (I'm using this as an example). This seems like a blatant ownership of content violation. However, because this wiki doesn't explicitly have that policy, I realized I technically cannot say it is (or even suggest that it might be) in violation of any policies.

From one thing to another, Japanese mahjong and riichi mahjong are technically not synonymous. While I understand sometimes using them interchangeably, it is unclear whether pages like Arushiiaru mahjong are allowed to be on this wiki. I assume yes, but I feel like I should still ask. RE: Unclear policies, IMO the main issue is that this is a fairly small wiki. If there's just two editors, any dispute will just be back-and-forth, in this case, going between "not enough sources" vs "sources are enough". Ideally, I'd rely on an admin to resolve policy disputes / clarifications as they come up.

I was going to get the admin involved soon anyway, this is just something that came to mind in the process. I still think clearer policies are needed (eventually at least, if this wiki ever gets bigger), though I guess it's not that big of an issue now. Anyway, thanks for the input. :) Tempara-chan (talk) 16:16, 14 February 2025 (UTC)
