The multi hanchan format is a system of play, where games include the same four people playing multiple hanchan. In many instances, the result between four players after one hanchan is not enough. This is mostly due to luck factors, that vary from person-to-person and game-to-game. Therefore, multiple hanchan are used to produce a more satisfactory and thorough result. The number of hanchan used depends on the organizer and the amount of time possible to settle a result.
