Tsumo has several meanings.

  • Tsumo is the act of drawing a tile.
  • "Tsumo" is called to declare a win on a self-drawn tile.
  • Menzenchin tsumohou, often shorted to tsumo, is a yaku obtained when a closed hand wins by self-draw.
  • When looking at a mahjong hand (such as in a paifu), tsumo may refer to the tile just drawn, or a winning drawn tile.
