Team member rule

From this season onward, all teams are required to have four members each. All teams filled heir four member slots in the previous season, but they were not required to do so.

Released members

For failing to qualify into the final in the previous season, the U-NEXT Pirates were required to release at least one team member. Both Koushin Asakura and Nobuhiro Ishibashi were released. For KADOKAWA Sakura Knights, the status for Makoto Sawazaki is still in question due to his recent cancer treatment, which kept him out of the team final. A decision was made to release Sawazaki for health reasons.

Draft

The season's draft was held on July 10, 2022. Only two teams had roster slots open for new members. The draft went as follows[1]:

  1. Yu Suzuki (Saikouisen) to the U-Next Pirates
  2. Nanba Shibukawa (Nihon Pro Mahjong) to the Kadokawa Sakura Knights
  3. Kei Nakabayashi (Nihon Pro Mahjong) to the U-Next Pirates
