: Granted that near 100% of this cruddy writing is my own doing, I'll make this a point.  Whether the dealer marker moves around or doesn't, that just depends on who you play with.  I can understand the disadvantage of letting the marker move around, sometimes, I've had to ask people: "Hey, who was the first dealer?"  But of course, that's only via casual play.  With my own little tournament, I take note of the initial wind seating, among other things.  EMA aside, I'll have to recommend that we include as much of "everything" as possible.  Also, we do have an article here to highlight specific EMA norms. :: It's just that every live game I've played (and a few computer/console games too, where dealer marker and dice are part of the graphics) we have used the prevailing wind marker as a initial-dealer marker, and the dice as a current-dealer marker. But since you say that the practice of using the prevailing wind marker as current-dealer marker exists, I wouldn't push too hard on changing the text of this article..., perhaps adding a note that both ways exists? At least we should write that both ways exist in the round indicator section of the mahjong equipment article, and make sure that a link there is available somewhere close. (I could write that text in a day or two...) 2Flwrs (talk) 00:16, 10 October 2013 (UTC)
:: Just as an other note (don't take it to seriously): In Saki, they keep the wind marker at the initial-dealer position, see for example vol. 5 p. 129–130: In S4 Amae Koromo pons the South, clearly showing the wind marker next to the minkou. On the next page Ikeda Kana thinks "A double south!", so it is evident that Amae Koromo (where the wind marker is) is not dealer. Also, I believe that the current dealer is indicated by an indicator-lamp on the automatic table, but that does not show well in the manga. I don't remember how it is in Akagi, Tetsuya or Koizumi... Since the terminology listing is pretty much done (the alphabetic list) at least, this is just a note to include more of those terms (if necessary) into this article.  Although, it is a matter of balancing jargon vs layman's terms.  It is expected for newbies to read into a article like this; but also, the writing shouldn't be watered down too much.
