I'm not sure I like the distinction between "luck based" and "circumstantial". For instance, player has a lot of control over when they kan, so they can definitely aim for rinshan. It's not clear to me whether these should really be distinguished. Coppro (talk) 00:15, 21 July 2015 (UTC)

Yea, I'm actually trying to work that out and make it up as we go. The way the yaku are subdivided here somewhat parallels regular Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_Mahjong_yaku) but slightly different. As note, I didn't really like the way regular Wikipedia lists them.

Oddly enough, I've targeted haitei (with ippatsu) a few times and succeeded once. After thinking about it for a few minutes after the previous sentence, I was focusing on targeting specific tile draws. With that said, we can move double riichi out of that grouping and lump ippatsu, haitei, and rinshan as targeting specific tile draws. Although, ippatsu can most certainly be circumstantial as well. Another approach, put all of these under circumstantial; and double riichi can join regular riichi under discretionary. KyuuAA (Talk:キュウ) 06:07, 21 July 2015 (UTC)

I feel like ippatsu and daburu riichi are genuinely lucky, but I would put them as circumstantial too, I think. Coppro (talk) 05:24, 22 July 2015 (UTC)
