Of all the high schools in the tournament, two teams are specially featured from opposite sides of the national tournament: Kiyosumi High School and Achiga High School. Kiyosumi High School follows the main line of the story, while Achiga High School is part of the spin-off story. Both teams are initially deemed as the "underdog" schools of the tournament.
