鳥星雨 is a completely digital player, playing towards maximizing expected values. His playstyle is rather slow and conservative. He tends not to call as often as other players, as he prefers the flexibility and added value of a closed hand. He would say his specialty is defensive play; the majority of the points he loses result from dealing in post-riichi.

He tends not to call as often as other players, as he prefers the flexibility that a closed hand offers a player. 鳥星雨 likes to play defensively unless he has a hand that he believes is big enough to warrant pushing. This means he always has 1 or 2 safe tiles at any time that he can use to push, even at the cost of a faster tenpai. He usually does not push fast hands if they are cheap.

鳥星雨 likes to watch his favorite professional players and model his playstyle off of them. His favorite pros include 魚谷佑美 (Uotani Yuumi), 二階戸亜紀 (Nikaido Aki), 茅森早香 (Kayamori Sayaka), and 近藤誠一 (Kondou Seiichi). In his free time, he looks at videos of professional play, and tries to analyze what they are doing better than him. In particular, he is quite excited about the start of Mリーグ, and you can probably guess what his favorite team is.

Finally, 鳥星雨 firmly opposes playing with beginner players who do not know proper defensive strategies. Games with one or more of these beginner players disproportionately overvalue aggressive play, which 鳥星雨 finds incredibly boring after a while. Instead, 鳥星雨 is often times very happy to play open hand games with these players to teach them proper defensive strategy so that they can play better in real games.
