== Alternatives for "shaped tenpai"? ==
The term "shaped tenpai" is not ideal. It implies that the tenpai is given shape from something else, but by that definition every tenpai that isn't dealt into your hand from the start is a shaped tenpai.
The point of the term "keishiki tenpai" is that it is tenpai in form/shape only. But it's hard to find a good, concise English equivalent of that. "Tenpai in form" or "tenpai in shape" works, but is a bit unwieldy. "Formal tenpai" is technically a very accurate translation, but it uses a meaning of the word that's very uncommon ("relating to the form or structure of something") and possibly a bit confusing. "Structural tenpai" is possible but not great. Or perhaps just "tenpai-shaped hand"? I don't know. [[User:Nico|Nico]] ([[User talk:Nico|talk]]) 03:29, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
