Shugi 「祝儀」 is a set payment (in money, not points) others owe when someone wins with akadora or certain luck-based yaku (uradora, ippatsu, rinshan). Shugi is used almost exclusively in gambling settings.

Shugi is generally marked with poker chips. Each player starts with a set amount of chips (usually 5), and each player gives one to the winner.
