Riichi City, or Maajan Ichibangai 「麻雀一番街」 is an online Japanese mahjong platform released in January 2022, developed and published by Lancelot Tech Ltd. The game offers mahjong for free, with a gacha system used for unlocking characters and other cosmetics. Riichi City is available on Google Play Store, Apple App Store, Windows PC and Linux in four languages: English, Japanese, Chinese and Korean.

Each character has two preferred normal gifts, one preferred special gift and two disliked normal gifts.

  • When gifting preferred normal gifts, each increases points by +50 more, with a 10% chance to double the base stat.
  • When gifting preferred special gifts, each increases points by +50 more, with a 100% chance to double the base stat.
  • When gifting disliked gifts, only 50% of the points will be awarded.

Mahjong sense can also be earned by playing games.

Main currency

  • Coins: General currency. Can be used to join in match, exchange items and awaken characters.
  • Vouchers: Rare currency. Can be used for gacha and purchase a variety of items.
  • Outfit Token: Can be used to exchange alternative outfits.

Alternative currency

  • Lucky Token: Performs a free gacha draw.
  • Stamp: Reward from Weekly Top Player Ranking. Can be used to exchange various items.
  • TP: Reward from Official Tournaments by Riichi City Committee. Can be used to exchange various items.
  • Gacha Stamp: Acquired automatically from each Gacha draw. Can be used to redeem characters and exchange most of the in-game items.

Awakening items

The following items can be used to awaken a character.

  • Books: General awakening item. Most of the characters require them to awaken. Currently there're 6 types of Books:
    • Book of Wisdom
    • Book of Luck
    • Book of Choice
    • Book of Attitude
    • Book of Judgement
    • Book of Focus
  • Item Fragment: Duplicate decorations will be converted automatically to Item Fragments. Can also be acquired by Gacha Stamps.
  • Outfit Coupon: Duplicate characters will be converted automatically to Outfit Coupons. Can also be acquired by Gacha Stamps.

Tournaments

Iikyokusen tournaments

Available at all times, players may participate in short tournaments centered around ikkyokusen games. These are short tournament brackets with just one hand per round. The shortest is a two-stage bracket, where 1st and 2nd continue into a final. The longer one is a three-stage bracket.

Grand prix tournaments

A daily grand prix is setup for a much longer tournament process. Players can register via the automated tournament system to play for either Tournament Points (daily) or for Gacha Summon Tickets (weekend).

Custom tournaments

Custom Tournaments are created by players. Each player is allowed to create one casual tournament for free.

Notes

  1. When the game launched: Sun required > 1700 Rating and Galaxy required > 2000 Rating. After the update on Dec 16, 2022: the Rating requirement for Sun was removed. After the update on Dec 24, 2024: Rating was removed entirely from the game, and greater restrictions were put in place to prevent high rank players from joining lower lobbies.
