Mahjong Biography
鳥星雨 (Toriesu) is an amateur Riichi Mahjong player who first became interested in the game of Riichi Mahjong because of the Kobayashi Ritz's Saki series, where his favorite character is Shindouji's Captain, Tsuruta Himeko. As a result, 鳥星雨 founded Northwestern University Riichi Mahjong in April of 2018, bringing in new players like his close friend YuukiTheFlash. 鳥星雨 goes by the same pseudonym 鳥星雨 on Tenhou. While he use to regularly play club mahjong with both Northwestern University Riichi Mahjong and Chicago Area Mahjong, 鳥星雨 graduated from Northwestern University in Spring of 2018, and went abroad to study Japanese in a summer program at Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan.
While at Waseda, 鳥星雨 attended weekly meetings of Waseda's Mahjong Club, where he claims to have gotten a lot better at the game. After completing the summer program at Waseda, 鳥星雨 left Japan for his job in Seoul, Korea, where his only exposure to the game is through playing net mahjong on Tenhou, oftentimes with his friends in the US.
