Team member rule
From this season onward, all teams are required to have four members each. All teams filled their four member slots in the previous season, but they were not required to do so.
Released members
For failing to qualify into the final in the previous season, the U-NEXT Pirates were required to release at least one team member. Both Koushin Asakura and Nobuhiro Ishibashi were released. For KADOKAWA Sakura Knights, the status for Makoto Sawazaki took a long time to decide due to his hospitalization, which kept him out of the team final. A decision was made to release Sawazaki for health reasons.
Draft
The season's draft was held on July 10, 2022. Only two teams had roster slots open for new members. The draft went as follows[1]:
- Yu Suzuki (Saikouisen) to the U-Next Pirates
- Nanba Shibukawa (Nihon Pro Mahjong) to the Kadokawa Sakura Knights
- Kei Nakabayashi (Nihon Pro Mahjong) to the U-Next Pirates

Overseas region lock
For a period of two months starting on October 13, overseas viewers were denied live viewing due to a region lock.[2] The league used copyrighted music, which prevented overseas broadcasting. In the interim, Abema provided VoD within a 24 hour period from a live cast for sections without the copyrighted music. Eventually, the situation was rectified, and live overseas broadcasting resumed on December 12.[3]
