Entotsu 「エントツ」 is a complex wait that combines ryanmen and shanpon. Appearing as "a numbered triplet + 2 connected tiles + an unrelated pair", it waits on three types of tiles.

Tile pattern

              Waiting for:  ,  , or

The pattern consists of non-terminal number tiles (e.g. the 34555), and an extra pair of any other tile.

Example: Not entotsu

              Waiting for:   or

Terminals cannot be used in the triplet/sequence part of this pattern. If a 10-man tile existed, then this would be entotsu.

Fu

This tile pattern does not reward fu on its own. Instead, fu is earned via the composition of the triplet. Regardless of the winning tile, the pattern guarantees one triplet, thus invalidating pinfu.

Double entotsu

              Waiting for:  ,  ,  , or

The wait pattern can be doubled, such that it occurs into one hand. Essentially, they can be viewed as a pair of ryanmen. However, this pattern is not possible without the entotsu patterns.
