Majsoul (aka Mahjong Soul, Jantama) is a Japanese mahjong game platform developed by CATFOOD STUDIO and distributed by Yostar. The game has some resemblance to Janryumon, in terms of graphics. The tile layout and graphical hands, as in "physical" hands, are displayed during game play.
The platform functions as a gacha game. Players may use in game currency to access various functions, such as items and ingame characters. On occasion, periodical events are available for special items, characters, and/or bonuses.
A tournament suite is available for users to become hosts and create their own tournaments. The interface allows hosts to set up tournament systems and custom rules not available in the main platform.
Entry Limit is the minimum coin permission to enter into a specific room.
Entry Fee is the actual cost when a match is started.
Players are not allowed to stream Jade Room / Throne Room matches in real-time. A delay of 5 minutes should be applied when performing a stream.
In-game Hints are disabled in Throne Room.
Matches in Special Rooms are not recorded in player's statistics and do not affect to player's rank.
Depends on room description, some special room matches may require copper coins. If required, requirement of copper coins is usually applied identically to Silver Room. Meanwhile, the progression of special room chests will be activated.

Notes:
Players will not be downgraded in Novice rank, but will still lose upgrading points.
Players will not be downgraded in Celestial rank. The ranking is sorted by the current points.
The Entry Fee is always applied as long as a match is taken successfully, although it's not shown in the final result.
For the Gain/Lost of match, the whole procedure is listed as follows:
Calculate End Score based on final point results.
Calculate Copper-coin lost for negative End Scores based on the exchange rate. The lost is always capped to a maximum lost (MaximumLost = EntryLimit - EntryFee) if exceeded the limit (EndScore < -40).
Currently there're 43 characters in game, including 32 females and 11 males.
Bond System
Each character has a unique Bond Value. The value can be enhanced by gaming or gifting to unlock corresponding vocals and story plots. At the maximum affection level, all voice lines will be unlocked, and the character will read out yakus after winning a hand. Characters can be entangled to unlock new appearance as a skin that can be chosen, accompanying with 3 extra emotes.

Bond values can be acquired as follows:
Completing a match in Silver Room or higher:
4P East +40, 4P South +60; 3P East +25, 3P South +40.
Extra bond-value enhancement is applied according to the charge amount. (See Charge-related Titles section)
Gifting directly:
Green Presents +200, Blue +1000, Purple +5000.
An enhancement of 50% extra bond-values is applied, if the gift type matches character's interest [note 1].
If playing with a max-bond character, the bond values will be tracked such that every 1000 points grants a "bond gift". Similarly to other blue gifts, this can be given to another character to increase 1000 points of bond value, and also can be donated for 5 dust.
Gifts
Gifts can be given to a character to increase your bond with that character (see Bond System section) or turned into gold dust. 50 gold dust can be used at the lucky cat to attempt getting larger rewards, including a new character.
A number of special rooms are offered in the game. They provide players a game experience using alternative rules, not normally found in other interfaces. Due to the number of game modes, they are offered temporarily, but they do recur for everyone's enjoyment.
Gameplay
All Simples in opened hand (Kuitan): Allowed
Gaining yaku upon the claim of a winning tile (Atozuke): Allowed
Swap calling (Kuikae): Not allowed
Red fives: 3 tiles (1 for each suit)
Double-wind pair: 4 fu
Multiple rons: Available
Dealership holding (Renchan):
Multiple rons: Keeps as long as dealer wins, otherwise rotates
Mangan at Draw (Nagashi Mangan): Keeps as long as dealer is ready (Tenpai), while rotates if not (No-ten)
Extended match / Extra wind round (Enchousen): Applied
Apply for: Big Three Dragons (Daisangen), Four Big Winds (Daisuushi)
Composite yakuman: Seperated responsibility for each yakuman [2]
Dealer starts with 14 tiles directly (instead of regular 13+1 tiles), each tile can be treated as tsumo tiles when achieving Blessing of Heaven (Tenhou). The last tile in default tile-sequence is treated as the winning tile by default on the result screen. When the hand is composed with another yakumans, it is always treated as the highest yakuman: Single-wait Four Concealed Triplets (Suuankou Tanki), Thirteen-wait Thirteen Orphans (Kokushi Musou Juusanmen Machi) and True Nine Gates (Junsei Chuuren Poutou). In those cases the hand is counted as triple yakuman. [3]
3P-Mahjong
3P-Mahjong (Sanma) is a variation based on regular mahjong, allowing 3 players to start a match.
The ruleset of Majsoul Sanma basically refers to Tenhou. Most of the rules are identical to Tenhou Sanma.
There're two different scoring mechanics ingame, by default Tsumo-Loss is applied in Ranked Matches, while North-Bisection is provided as an alternative option in Friendly Matches.
Ruleset in details
Starting points: 35000, End points: 40000
Uma points: First +15, Second ±0, Third -15
Rinshan-tile amount: 8 tiles
Tiles from to are not used, thus Mixed Triple Sequence (Sanshoku Doujun) yaku is unavailable.
When Dora indicator is , Dora is .
Red fives: 2 tiles ( and )
Honba point: 200 points for each Honba stick
No-ten penalty: 2000 points
Completing a sequence by calling Chii: Disabled
North can be used for replacement dora "Kita" (Nukidora / Kita).
After a Kan (Rinshan Kaihou) yaku is applied when winning a hand with rinshan tile from North replacing.
North replacing can be robbed even with non-yakuman hand. However Robbing a Kan (Chankan) yaku is not applied, the hand itself still requires another yaku to win with.
North replacing cannot be claimed immediately right after Pon.
North replacing is similar to a calling action, thus this can nullify Ippatsu (Ippatsu), Blessing of Earth (Chiihou), Nine Different Terminals and Honors (Kyuushu Kyuuhai) and Double Riichi (Daburu Riichi).
North replacing does not lead to a furiten of North.
North is treated as guest-wind tiles (Otakaze), a triplet of North cannot get 1 han as Value Tiles (Yakuhai / Fanpai).
Due to lacking of North seat, there're no abortive draws of Four-wind Discarded (Suufon Renda) and Four-player Riichi (Suucha Riichi).
Calculation of Scoring Points
Currently there're 2 different scoring methods ingame:
Tsumo-Loss (default): Winner loses the income from North seat when the hand is completed by Tsumo.
North-Bisection: The income from North is equally divided and distributed towards every other seats.
In Ranked Match Tsumo-Loss is applied.
The scoring table with Tsumo-Loss is basically identical to regular 4P-mahjong:

The calculation on Tsumo is finished by the following steps:
Calculate the scoring points based on 4P-Mahjong.
Equally divide North seat's payment (round up to whole hundreds).
Append the half North payment to other seats.
E.g. A non-dealer wins with a hand of 40fu 3han.
Based on 4P-Mahjong, dealer should pay 2600, while non-dealer 1300.
North pays 1300, half of the payment is 650 -> round up to 700.
Dealer actually pays 2600 + 700 = 3300, while non-dealer 1300 + 700 = 2000.

Notes:
A rough calculation between VIP points and actual cost can be done by the following formula: 6 VIP points = 6 CNY≈30 NTD or ≈1 USD <CN> / 1 USD <EN> / ≈120 JPY <JP>.
The prices in JP server are slightly increased from October 1st, 2019 due to an increasement of consumption tax.
The currency in CN server is switched to New Taiwan Dollar after the server migration from June 9th, 2020, while US Dollar is also available in Steam client released on July 15th, 2020. Overall prices are higher, while rewarded jades are also increased slightly.

↑However this is not always reliable, and sometimes it's misleading. Interests of some characters can match more than one type of gifts (e.g. Natsuki Shinomiya), while some of them can't match any at all (e.g. Hideki Akechi).
↑Of course, including winning Tenhou and Chiihou both once. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
