Daisharin refers to a group of three optional yakuman: daisharin 「大車輪」, daichikurin 「大竹林」 and daisuurin 「大数隣」. They are each scored by having a closed hand that contains: 22334455667788, all of the same suit. As optional yakuman, they may or may not be included in the game.
The yakuman named "daisharin" itself refers to this pattern with pinzu; "daichikurin" applies to souzu, and "daisuurin" applies to manzu. Calling a hand with souzu as "daisharin" would be incorrect. But, while they are technically three distinct yaku, most rulesets that include the pinzu daisharin also include daichikurin and daisuurin as well.
Pattern
The pattern for daisharin differs only in which tile is used to win the hand, and will always have at least one yasume tile:
The same applies to daichikurin:
and daisuurin:
Scoring
When classified as distinct yaku, daisharin and company are awarded yakuman. Even if they are not used, however, than hands are worth at least a 11-han sanbaiman:
- Pinfu: 1 han
- Tanyao: 1 han
- Ryanpeikou: 3 han
- Chinitsu: 6 han
The high score that this hand naturally achieves helps to explain why it is uncommonly scored as yakuman.
