Kazoe yakuman 「数え役満」 is a special class of yakuman obtained by combining regular yaku. Specifically, any hand that scores 13 han or more is a kazoe yakuman. Any combination of yaku and/or dora can work, though some are easier to use than others.
- A hand that scores 26 or more han is not considered a double yakuman.
- Kazoe yakuman cannot be combined with regular yakuman. Under standard rules, a hand cannot score both yakuman and yaku. Therefore, a yakuman hand effectively has 0 han.
Some rules may not recognize kazoe yakuman. In that case, a hand worth 13 han or more would be treated as a sanbaiman instead.
Different kazoe combinations
There are many different possibilities for a kazoe yakuman, since any yaku may contribute towards the hand.
Chinitsu based
With chinitsu already at 6 han while closed, this hand is already almost half-way to the needed 13 han for kazoe yakuman. Naturally, other yaku and/or dora are necessary in order to increase the han count to 13. Nevertheless, chinitsu is a common yaku for this combination.
Example:
Dora based
Large numbers of dora can easily push hands beyond the 13 han limit. This is particularly true with kan dora and ura dora (and kan ura dora).
Example:
- Riichi with 12+ dora
Without dora
A few possible kazoe yakuman combinations do not require dora to achieve 13 han.
Examples:
- Chinitsu with ryanpeikou, tanyao, pinfu, riichi, and tsumo.
- Shousangen with haku, chun, double ton, toitoi, sankantsu, rinshan kaihou, honitsu
The largest hand possible without regular yakuman
- Dealer in the east round
- Double riichi, houtei ron: Dora indicators: Ura-dora indicators:
- 60 han with double riichi, houtei, haku, hatsu, double ton, sankantsu, toitoi, sanankou, shousangen, honroutou, honitsu, 20 dora, and 20 ura dora.
